Carried out in 2009, this research set out to shed light on the organisation and practice of representation in the third sector. We wanted to move beyond checklists and toolkits to consider the different ways in which local practitioners, across both the governmental and third sectors, were tackling the challenge of representation. It has roots in two earlier studies carried out in partnership between IVAR and the I&DeA (now Local Government Association).
