Lara Bautista

Research Officer

As Research Officer, Lara supports a diverse range of IVAR’s research projects, bringing a mixed-methods approach to fieldwork, analysis and dissemination. She is currently working on the Open and Trusting and Community Participatory Action Research programmes, as well as IVAR’s developing work on AI.

Previous work:

Before taking on the Research Officer role, Lara started at IVAR as an Intern, and then as a Research Associate. Lara brings added experience in the third sector, in her ongoing volunteer position as Country Coordinator at Amnesty International UK, developing campaigns on human rights in the Philippines and Vietnam, as well as in past social justice-focused roles spanning research, programmes and advocacy.

Lara holds an MSc in Anthropology and Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as an MA in International Relations and French from the University of St Andrews. Her research background focuses on postcolonial power and discourse, explored at the intersections of development, political violence and human rights.

Other interests:

In her free time, Lara hates to sit still: she can often be found running in the woods of North London, swimming in the ponds at Hampstead Heath, on the court with her volleyball team, and going for long walks with her cat, Connie.
