Dr Jody Aked

Interim Director of Research

As Interim Director of Research at IVAR, Jody leads a motivated and talented team of research staff and freelance research associates. She provides strategic direction & project design support in the development and delivery of IVAR’s research.

Previous work:

Jody brings 20 years of experience using qualitative and action research to build the relational structures and capacities for institutions and communities to practice at co-producing equitable place futures, wellbeing economies, public health, food transitions and restoration of natural ecosystems. Jody holds a PhD using complexity-aware action research to study collective action from the Power, Participation & Social Change cluster at Institute of Development Studies.

She has worked with a diverse array of foundations, local authorities, charities and community networks including VSO, Christian Aid, ClientEarth, The Laudes Foundation, The Indigenous Partnership for Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty, The Wellbeing Economy Alliance, Adur & Worthing Councils and the Place Bureau.

Other interests:

When not at work, Jody can be found by the sea or walking the countryside. She loves to travel and listen to music. She cannot get enough of dancing with JP Omari at Funkfit and Hotpod yoga.
