Community Accountability with Power to Change

Topline timings: April - October 2017

Commissioned by:
Power to Change

Power to Change is an independent trust, whose funding is used to strengthen community businesses across England. IVAR has been commissioned by Power to Change to undertake research into community accountability within the community business sector.

The brief

The research aims to inform Power to Change’s practice in terms of assessing and supporting funding applicants as well as to generate findings of use to community businesses, others funding community businesses and, more widely, add to understanding about accountability.

Research design

Between April and September 2017 we will be undertaking a review of the existing literature on community accountability, with a specific focus on community businesses, and carrying out case studies to explore the meaning, practice and challenges of community accountability in up to 12 community businesses.
