Edinburgh workshop: Empowered Communities in the 2020s
24 August (13:00 – 15:30)
As part of the Empowered Communities in the 2020s project, we’re asking how communities identify an issue that concerns them, explore approaches to addressing it and take action. The project is being led by IVAR and Local Trust and is funded by the Community Development Foundation (CDF) and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF). The research will inform future work to bring about more empowered communities.
The workshop aims to deepen our understanding of how communities could become more empowered in the 2020s, kindly hosted by Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland.
Date: Thursday 24 August 2017
Time: 13:00 – 15:30
In Scotland, we are keen to explore the current focus on community education and community development learning. This workshop provides an opportunity for those working with communities in Scotland to come together and look at our findings so far, through a Scottish lens.
We will explore:
What is different and specific?
How does the emphasis on community education and learning in Scotland shape the context?
What does the future look like for Community Learning and Development in Scotland?
What is happening in communities that is exciting, that we can learn from or that might inform policy or practice across Scotland?
Have Your Say
We’re working right across the UK and we’d like to hear what you think, so even if you’re not able to make the workshop please do get involved by taking our survey, hosting a conversation or joining the discussion on Twitter #Empowered2020s.
