Gordon has worked in research in the third sector for over 11 years in Northern Ireland. For the past nine years he has been Head of Research at the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA). In that time Gordon managed a wide range of research projects examining the role, scale and dynamics of the third sector in that area. Prior to working in NICVA, Gordon held posts with a community resource centre and with a primary care trust, both in Belfast.

Gordon takes a lead role in securing new business for IVAR. He has overall responsibility for the Partnership Improvement Programme as well as IVAR's contribution to the National Third Sector Commissioning Programme.
