Project Name: Improving Services for Older People’s programme (follow up evaluation)
Partners: City Bridge Trust
IVAR Project Manager: Ben Cairns
Following the completion of the IVAR evaluation of the City Bridge Trust’s (CBT) Improving services for older people programme in August 2008, a report was presented by officers to trustees in June 2009.
Subsequently, at a joint IVAR / CBT session at the ACF Annual Conference in October 2009, a need to extend existing learning about the longer-term benefits of ‘grants plus’ approaches to capacity building was identified.
The main purpose of these reviews will be to capture and describe organisations’ views and perceptions of the benefits of the capacity-building support provided through the ISOP programme – both the immediate outcomes and any longer-term effects and changes.
The aim will be to visit organisations whose programme of capacity building support was completed between September and December 2008, in other words 12 – 15 months ago, and who did not participate in the original IVAR study. Semi-structured interviews will be held with senior representatives who were themselves involved in the earlier programme of capacity building support.
The material gathered from the reviews will be synthesised, analysed and presented in a short report. This report will then be used as the basis of a joint CBT /IVAR event in spring 2010 focusing on models and arrangements for supporting small voluntary and community organisations
