Office for Civil Society: PIP can create stronger cross-sectoral relationships
On 14th October 2010 Nick Hurd (Minister for Civil Society) launched the government's strategy for 'Building a stronger civil society'. Those eagled eyed fans of policy amongst you will have noticed a passage in the introduction that referred to IVAR/LGID's Partnership Improvement Programme.
"The Office for Civil Society is working with strategic partners and the LGA to facilitate local events that will debate and share best practice in relation to managing cuts. We are developing the successful Partnership Improvement Programme to support the creation of strong relationships between local public bodies and the sector."
A recent evaluation of PIP confirmed that finding ways to develop and nurture effective and efficient cross-sector partnerships should not be seen as a luxury. Cross-sector working is a necessity if the collective challenges faced by all sectors are to be tackled with a shared purpose and common understanding.
