IVAR and Compact Voice look for lessons in dispute resolution - 2nd December 2009
IVAR has been commissioned by Compact Voice to review and analyse a series of Compact Advocacy cases. The purpose of this research will be to deliver a review of disputes between a voluntary and community sector organisation and a public body. The review will indentify whether there are any patterns to the type of process associated with disputes or to how they are resolved.
The key outcome of the project will be the identification of lessons that can be learned to assist in the resolution of Compact disputes in the future. The review will also identify any policy implications that emerge, with the aim of enabling better partnership working in the future.
The research will involve the analysis of around 30 different cases in which Compact Advocacy have been involved in seeking a resolution to a compact dispute. In addition IVAR will speak to a number of the key individuals involved on both sides of specific disputes. In doing this we want to learn from practitioners in the voluntary and community sector and in public agencies about the resolution of disputes around non-Compact ways of working.
A report highlighting the lessons learned from the cases that Compact Advocacy has handled will be produced in January 2010, along with a series of anonymised case studies.
